Chiropractic Care for Stress Management

Stress Management by chiropractic You probably already know that chronic stress is hard on your body. It causes muscle tension, headaches, and anxiety, among other issues. Over time, it can even affect proper hormone function, as well as your immune response. Here’s a deeper look at what happens when we’re stressed, and how chiropractic care helps with overall stress management.

The Fight-or-Flight Response

When you hear people refer to the “fight-or-flight” response, they’re talking about a physiological reaction to a perceived threat. It’s part of our built-in survival mechanism. But the problem is our bodies can’t tell the difference between needing to run away from a tiger, and a confrontational phone call. Obviously, this can make stress management challenging.

The term was first coined by Walter Bradford Cannon, an American physiologist from Harvard Medical School. The fight-or-flight reaction is how the sympathetic nervous system responds to anything “scary.” This could include situations like an important job interview to a near-collision on the highway. Rapid, involuntary signals flood the body to help us avoid danger. But sometimes our bodies get confused. Modern life is more complex than fighting or running away from the occasional predator.

We’ve all experienced it. Your heartbeat races. There’s increased blood flow to the muscles, and a spike in not only blood pressure, but also glucose levels. Your palms sweat. There’s a hormonal cascade, too, including a bump of adrenaline. Being triggered to fight or flee is a useful reflex for survival, but it’s exhausting in our modern world because there are so many more stressors. We can get stuck in this space of acute stress.

Your Stress Management Plan

Chiropractic adjustments can reduce muscle tension and restore proper function to the body in a holistic way, interrupting the sympathetic nervous system’s fight-or-flight pattern. Stress management is essential to our overall wellbeing and quality of life, especially in times like these when there’s so much uncertainty during the pandemic lockdown.

The Power of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic affects every part of our body.  Why?  Because our nervous system controls all aspects of our being, from proper organ function to the sensation of pain.  So it only makes sense that we will begin to feel pain, discomfort, or notice various symptoms when our nervous system isn’t functioning correctly.  Chiropractic does not rely on harsh medication or invasive surgery to treat health-related ailments, instead, it focuses on the nervous system — correcting nerve flow blockages in the spine and other areas of the body, to allow the body’s powerful natural healing power to flourish, flow, and repair itself naturally.

Beautiful, clean, and spacious. The place just feels good to be in. Dr. Mahsa is a top-quality chiropractor (and person) who deeply cares about her clients and their results. She is knowledgeable on many levels and provides a ‘mamma bear’ experience that is both comforting and caring. I feel that I am in good hands while here. I will recommend this place.  P.S. The music she plays is awesome!

Dr. Mahsa is the kind of person you want to refer all your friends to.  She treated my chronic back pain using a combination of techniques that was way more effective than anyone I had seen before.  She has treated me, and now both my sons, for over two years.  The office staff is great too.  Friendly and professional and very welcoming.  I always leave here feeling good.

Jeffrey W., Alamo, CA

Dr. Mahsa has been wonderful for my family and I since day one. I was referred to her by a close friend and was glad I went to see her. I’m at the gym at least 5 days a week and my back pain was interfering with my workouts and sleep. She completed an assessment and I was back on my feet in no time. Since I had such a great experience with her I brought my entire family in and they’ve been feeling great with her adjustments as well. It’s difficult to know who to go to when there are so many different chiropractors out there. I’m known to research for the “best” out there and I believe I’ve found it! I recommend you go see her.

Dr Mahsa is amazing  Had a great experience here. She is very knowledgeable and friendly.  This is also a very nice chiropractic office very large and filled with lots of high tech devices.  She did a great job with a fully completed assessment on my body and was able to relieve lower back pain.  Enjoyed all the different machines that were used to help make me feel better and relieve and prevent any future pain.

Jones K., Walnut Creek, CA

Dr. Mahsa immediately put me on an aggressive therapy and now I’m back on my training and have actually improved my time per mile. Dr. Mahsa and her staff are friendly, professional and so DAMN good at what they do. She’s like a family to us.
